Ergotron WorkFit-S workstations are mechanical products and like anything mechanical they do occasionally fail.
The WorkFit-S announces its failure with a loud and unmistakable snap.The cable hidden inside the column has broken and the workstation will no longer move up or down.
This is a known problem with the earlier generation of the product but happens rarely now.
The good news is that Ergotron products are covered by a five year warranty and your workstation probably falls within that time period. Here is what to do;
- record the serial number and model number found underneath the metal support that connects the keyboard tray to the column.
- contact Ergotron at (800) 888-8458 and ask for Technical Support .
The support person will use the serial number to determine the shipping date (and warranty eligibility) of the workstation.
